Miss Amelia Calvert
Co-Opted Governor (Chair of Governing Body)
I live just outside Colgate and enjoy taking part in village life. I don’t have children but am a proud aunt and godmother, keen to support children as they grow and explore the world. When not a governor I teach yoga and love taking my dog for walks.

Associate Member
I am the Deputy Head Teacher and was a Staff Governor for four years. I have since become an Associate Member so that I can continue to use my teaching experience of 30 years to support the governing body with making strategic decisions that benefit pupils and the school as a whole.

I live a two minute drive from Colgate School and take an active part in village life both as school governor and chair of Colgate Memorial Hall. I thoroughly enjoy supporting the leadership and learning environment of our village School working together to be our best.

I am a father and a besotted grandad. I enjoyed a successful career in Music and Film with EMI Records, Sony Music and Warner Bros Pictures. Now in retirement, I am a keen allotmenteer and beekeeper. I recently moved to Colgate, have integrated into village life and am proud to be a Governor at Colgate School.

I have worked at Colgate Primary School since 2016, where I am currently the year four/five class teacher. I am looking forward to supporting the school community as part of the governing body.

I have been a governor since 2019 and Chair for the last two years. I am retired, and have two grandsons attending the school. I am committed to supporting Colgate Primary in its efforts to provide the best possible education for all the children who attend.

I am originally from Scotland where I studied accountancy at Dundee University. I have been in the area for about 7 years and I have two lovely children Xander (Apple Class) and his younger sister Rory along with Monkey the dog. I very much look forward to getting more involved in school life.

I have worked in education for nearly two decades and have two children at Colgate Primary School. I look forward to supporting the School in a strategic role and helping our children to have the best possible start to their learning journey.
Mr Neil Poland
Co-opted Governor
My two children attended the school and are now at Cottesmore. I like walking, reading and sport. I became a governor to contribute to the school and our village community. I am a solicitor and my education has provided me with life opportunities which I would like to help others to benefit from.

Parent Governor
I moved to the area in 2017 and both my children attend Colgate School. I work in law enforcement, am a Deputy Events Organiser and am qualified with Mental Health First Aid England. I love walking our dogs in the countryside and very much look forward to supporting the School as a Parent Governor.

Hello! I am Julie, a Local Authority governor. I live in the village, and am married with one daughter, who is at university. I am a marketing and sales consultant, and have worked in the consumer products industry for over 30 years. I thoroughly enjoy supporting the community of Colgate Primary School.

My family background is in education but my career has been in the corporate sector (financial services and health). I have lived in Colgate for 11 years and have two children at the School. Colgate has provided such a positive start to my children’s education and I am delighted to support the School as a parent governor.

I’ve been Headteacher at Colgate since 2016 and have been teaching since 1999. Working with the team at Colgate is incredibly rewarding and I very much enjoy supporting the school community ‘to be our best’.

Clerk to the Governors
My role is to take minutes of Governing Body and Committee meetings, help to draft agendas and papers, advise the Governing Body on legal and procedural issues, maintain and update the Governors’ Development Plan and Action Plan, keep records of membership, training and attendance and support induction of new Governors.
