Apple

Welcome to Apple Class!

In Apple class, we have Reception and Year One children.

Mrs Champion teaches 4 days a week and Mrs Burton teaches on a Wednesday. Mrs Urganci is our teaching assistant.

Reception children learn through play in relation to the seven areas of learning in the EYFS.

Year One follow the National Curriculum.

Autumn Term 2026

Toot Toot! Vroom Vroom! Beep Beep!

Welcome to our new Reception children! We are looking forward to getting to know you all.

Our learning this term will stem from the question ‘How do we travel from place to place?’

We will start off by reading some fairy tales and using The Jolly Postman to begin looking at journeys.

As geographers, we will be looking at maps and why we use them and as artists, we will be developing our colour mixing skills by creating pictures of The Great Fire of London. As historians, we will look at how and why the fire started and how they put it out.

As scientists, we will explore seasonal change by using our senses to describe Autumn and Winter. We will also be learning about materials and their properties. We will use this learning in our DT work to create a moving vehicle.

We will be reading a variety of fiction and non fiction related to vehicles and we will be creating information pages about our chosen vehicle. Our main text will be The Naughty Bus!

Our curriculum letter is further down the page and has more information about our learning for this term.
