Oak

Here you will find all the information you need about learning in Oak Class.

Our theme for Autumn 2025 is:
What is life like outside our comfort zone?

In English, the Year 3 children will be studying the text ‘Race To The Frozen North’ and the Year 4 children will be looking at ‘Shackleton’s Journey’ to inform their writing this term.

We are also currently enjoying attending Outdoor learning and swimming every week. In DT we are learning to sew so that we can make a small soft fiddle toy. In Science we have been learning about sound and rocks, soils and fossils.

Thank you for visiting our page.

Curriculum links for English and Maths for Years 3 and 4

Please find below links to the National Curriculum with objectives for Years 3 and 4. This is what is covered over the year and what your child should know by the end of Year 3 or Year 4.

Please note, the English overview is a 2 year cycle covering both Years 3 and 4, therefore, these objectives are based on what your child should know by the end of Year 4.

Miss Wilson, our Year 6 class teacher and Maths subject lead, has created some great videos which will walk you through to explain how we teach the written method for the four operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division), of which some videos are relevant to the Year 3 and 4 Maths curriculum.
